A July Fourth Weekend Recap: Fireworks, and the 257th Army Band

The annual Fourth of July fireworks celebration took place Friday night. With plenty of places to view the spectacle from this photographer chose a spot along the George Washington Memorial Parkway near the Arlington Memorial Bridge, which allowed for framing the fireworks in the widest shots between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument.

Plenty of other activities were happening during the long weekend, including a post-game fireworks display following the Washington Nationals victory over the Detroit Tigers on Thursday night.

Then the 257th Army Band from the D.C. Army National Guard took center stage on Saturday night at Lubber Run Amphitheater in Arlington, Va. Concertgoers were treated to a trio of performances from ensembles within “The Band of the Nation’s Capital.”
